Welcome to the Pirate Ship Excitement!
You are about to set sail on a voyage through the Grammar Sea. First you will head to the Island of Nouns to visit people, places and things. Then you will head to the Land of Verbs and learn about action words and states of being. Next, your voyage will take you to the Descriptive Words Dock to learn about adjectives and adverbs. Finally, your ship will land on Treasure Island where you will put it all together to create a treasure of your own!

First, you must set up your folder and journal to tell Captain Harrod all about your exciting voyage.

First, you must set up your folder and journal to tell Captain Harrod all about your exciting voyage.
- On the cover of your folder and journal, write: your name and the name of your pirate ship. Also write your name and the name of your pirate ship on your treasure map and checklist.
- You will put your checklist and map in the left pocket of your folder. The journal will be in the right pocket.
- When you write in your journal, put the task number and the name of where you are visiting (Island of Nouns, Land of Verbs, or Descriptive Words Dock).
- In each land, you will have to do tasks in your journal. Check with Captain Harrod after each task is done before moving onto the next part of your trip. Once you have done the tasks, you will color in that landmark on your map and move on.
